Golden Jubilee Celebrations 2002

2002 saw the whole Parish come together for a Street Party in Sawpits Close and a Pig Roast and Barn Dance at the Cricket Club, where Stogumber’s beacon was also lit. Following a grant from the Parish Council, several other grants were sourced to ensure that everyone in the Parish had complementary to tickets to both events. The activities were planned and organised by the Golden Jubilee Committee, but on the day the community spirit was alive and well and everyone helped to make the day one to remember for Stogumber. street party

Thanks to a collection at the Golden Jubilee events, the Committee were able to plant a Golden Garden at the Village Hall in 2003. A tree has been planted in the memory of the late Parish Councillor, Mr Geoffrey Sellick, and the Parish Council held a dedication ceremony during Summer 2003.
